3 Harbours Arts Festival...
Myself and a close group of 4 other artists started this festival in 2006. Still in its infancy, it is growing rapidly. Our festival receives no core funding and we manage to put on a festival that if costed out would cost over £100,000 per year to put on. Myself and the management committee are all volunteers, the artists and performers are all dedicated to art in its true form and thus give of their time in kind, and we rely on businesses, councils and members of the community to give of their time for free in order to run this 10 day annual festival. Its wonderful - a celebration of art forms - painting, sculpture, photography, dance, music, literature, drama.
The 3 Harbours Arts Festival is a 10 day festival celebrating talent and creativity in East Lothian with artwork being exhibited and performed in ingenious spaces throughout the 3 towns. Its all about art in unusual places and this years festival was no exception. We had Tasmin Little, reknowed violinist play in the chimney of the Cockenzie Power Station, we had Kite Scotland give a delightful show of kite art, Drumatik (the best drumming group in Scotland) attended the festival, over 150 artists in over 100 venues with over 50 events happening.
Its fabulous, its crazy, its mental and I love it!
The 3 Harbours Arts Festival is now heading into its 4th year and will take place in June 2009. Registration forms are available on our website www.3harbours.com
